[Word spreads among those who are still on Site 1: there are fireworks. Why? Because, that's why.

The fact that it's the anniversary of camp probably has nothing to do with it. Probably.

Anyway, if people do show up to the yard, there's indeed fireworks. Firecrackers, smoke bombs, fountain fireworks, sparklers, bang snaps, roman candles, and aerial repeaters.

The ground has also been dampened, thanks to a certain seawyrm. Do try not to cause any fires, everyone.

killtheanimals: (These shaking hands)
[Mitsuru's had some time to calm, though he's still sitting in his tree, his eyes are still red, his face still damp from earlier tears. He isn't sobbing at the least, which is a vast improvement, and the beyblade Boa gifted to him prior to the trial remains in hand, clenched tight between his fingers. His black robes are wrapped around him in spite of the heat, helping him to blend in with the dark of the trees, intended from the start as a symbol of mourning.

He didn't think they would be for mourning his best friend in this place.

Still. In spite of the dark thoughts filling his head, he's not completely oblivious to his surroundings. When he hears someone approaching, he jerks his head to see, heart rate picking up in a moment of fear -
what if he's to die, too? - a spell on his lips, if unsaid.]
killtheanimals: (at all)
[When Mitsuru finds him, it's in a tree away from the others, black sorcerer's robes wrapped around him to further conceal his presence. He's curled up in the branches, staff in his lap, Ragnaruk clutched tightly in his hand, shoulders shaking with the occasional silent sob.

He probably hasn't even noticed her, given the lack of reaction. To say he's doing poorly would be a huge, huge understatement.

In the end, he is, after all, only eleven- no. Twelve, now.
]
killtheanimals: (Default)
[He's hiding somewhat less by the time Sunday rolls around, which is to say at least he isn't hanging out in a tree at this exact moment. Instead, he's... around, wearing subdued clothes, face drawn from exhaustion. Perhaps unsurprising, given the week as well as, well, yesterday.

He's also unsurprisingly being even less social than normal. Eddie's going to have to approach him first, since he's currently just kind of staring out at the lake from the shade of the canoe-shack, staff in his lap even as he spins the Ragnaruk in his hand.
]
killtheanimals: (Default)
[When Ichigo finds him, he's curled up in the branches of a tree, black robes wrapped around him in spite of the heat, further concealing him in the darkness, staff in his lap. Mourning clothes, worn out of respect for those who had died, yet not intended for this.

He spins Ragnaruk idly in his hand before clenching it tight. Thankfully, it's not liable to cut, even if the pain would almost be a welcome distraction in this moment.
]
killtheanimals: (I was stuck in a dream)
[He's... around. After the trial and scare of the day prior, Mitsuru is spending his time doing the usual Mitsuru things, which mainly consists of drawing or curling up in the rec room and playing video games for want of something to keep occupied with.

He's especially distracted today, however. Even as he plays Splatoon, his gaze is unfocused, and the computer starts winning handily. And yet, he doesn't even seem to particularly care.

By the time the match ends, he's just sitting there, staring moodily at the screen.

Booklet

killtheanimals: (Default)
Mitsuru's booklet. At the front are sketches: Balbylone, a walled medieval town with reptilian, beastial, and human inhabitants streaming through the gates, a great forest entirely on fire, a serpent with a dark, jagged line through it, like he was surprised in the middle of drawing it, a complex magical circle, a stony palace, and that same magical circle again, except with short notes on walls and defenses.

At the back of the booklet are his notes.

-Red only answers specific questions.
-Pastor Dan worked here for many, many years.
-Red has worked here for 8 years counting this one.
-When asked about Stan’s memories, she claimed she thought it was Alzheimers because “when you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras.” When asked what she thought of us walking into here ourselves with no memory of it, she said “It was a zebra.”
-She does not enjoy being here.
-Under certain circumstances, she would like to leave.
-She is here because of us.

6/5
-It’s possible campers from our worlds are from later times or parallels of our worlds.
-What other campers experienced and what we will experience will be different. Comparing ourselves to them will set us up for failure.
-”Survive for eight weeks. That is the way to succeed.”
-”The survivors will be in their home worlds.”
-She could not tell me what happens to the failures upon threat of death to us both.
-Red is protecting Stan because he has blocks on his mind to preserve his sanity. Red’s superiors say triggering the blocks shouldn’t harm him but she doesn’t trust that.
-She does this because she promised to protect someone, to someone who was formerly in the camp.

6/11

-Red has asked her superiors about the voice in our heads. She doesn’t hear it.
-She was unaware it is affecting us physically.
-Normally campers do not kill each other in the first week. She thinks it’s the violent children who caused problems in previous rounds.
-She has files on all campers and knows what their pasts are.
-”A Facilitator understands the world around them and makes the pieces fit together properly.”
-The voice isn’t from our worlds so Red doesn’t know about it. “They” don’t like “us” (people from other worlds) to know too much about their world.
-She lives here permanently as she is the only one still alive in her world and there is no point in returning.
-She wants to limit our suffering.

6/11

-Red was a performer
-Before she knew how to fight properly she had to face a monster or die. [Small sketch of this]
-Do not fight her, she can go from asleep to alert before you can touch her. The sword, Blue, would awaken her if she were in danger.
-The camp population should not drop below ten before week seven.

6/12

She erased my memories twice.

I can't be sacrificed.

I have to bring her back.

I can't die.

-Stan is a con man. He displayed fake exhibitions to tourists.
-His great nephew and niece are both fourteen now - Dipper and Mabel.
-Dipper reminds him of his twin brother Stanford. Serious and nerdy with a good head on his shoulders.
-Mabel’s excitable and good at making sweaters.
-He spent years posing as his twin brother, who went missing. He worked hard to get(?) his brother back.

6/17

-She can make text appear between her hands, like a hologram.
-Mabel Pines asked her to protect her family, which is why she protects Stan.
-If her brother were here, Red would try to keep him out of trouble/harm’s way. She cannot prevent his death.
-Stan is also from another world.
-Red thinks we are chosen because we are from other worlds, which makes us “not real people” to them.
-Red volunteered as counselor but was approved because counselors are often in danger from campers, and it’s preferred someone from another world dies.
-Red was brought here by coincidence when the technology was still new. They were grabbing whoever they could. “They” being the people at the labs.
-She did not know they want to experiment on her and seemed afraid. She asked if they were here at camp when I brought it up.
6/20

-The hunters won’t let us leave. They fear their bosses.
-The final protocol ensures that those who return to ‘life’ cannot leave the camp.
-An ‘excellent candidate’ is someone strong enough to contain everyone should Red become unable to do so. This is until a replacement Facilitator is found.
-Occasionally the hunters are faster at “containing” than Red, especially when she’s asleep. -Our powers would be removed upon Red’s death.
-The hunters and the labs are separate entities.
-The stone has been here for millions of years. They’re trying to protect the world from the stone.

6/20

-Red’s organization has been in charge of camp for 50-odd years.
-The hunters were around the area before that.
-Red does not think they know very much about the stone, only that people turn into it at the camp.

6/20

-Red asked about the voice but it’s still mostly classified. Neither Stan nor Red are responsible for it or what happens to us during the week.
-Anyone who stays here too long is infected, including the hunters.
-Fear itself causes the infection. Red has to call it “It” because that’s what Eddie and Richie chose.
-Fear is what’s affecting us. But it doesn’t “technically” run the camp.
-This “It” is less threatening and not the same as the one Eddie and Richie faced.
-We are welcome to try defeating it the same way but Red would not promise results.
-Red is containing that thing, not us.
-We become “nothing, until we die.”
-Dan was probably dead with how far gone he was.

6/25
-According to Red, regarding those who walk and are made of petoskey: “That’s not them in there.”
-When someone dies in this world, their soul leaves their body and they are gone.
-The voice only speaks to campers. It’s likely one of the mental effects of this place.
-Red can only turn our powers on or off.
-She doesn’t know for certain about the labs, but she wouldn’t be surprised if they could switch our powers.
-The hunters likely could not, because they typically do not have powers. However, there are exceptions.

6/25

-Red has seen campers hallucinate before.
-Stan might be able to help because he’s used to dealing with strange things in his world.
-Some of us came here of our own will, some of us were dragged.
-They told all of us why we’re here, but they used the same memory erasing drug so we can’t remember it.

7/5

-Red’s power is to turn things “on” and “off.” By creating a series of “on” and “off” commands, she can do a lot with it.

7/10

-Final protocol is activated when: Red dies (after 24 hours), less than 10 campers remain before the start of week 7, or if anyone is left alive by the strike of midnight on Sunday of week 8.

( CODED BY BOOTYCALL )
killtheanimals: (Default)
[Whatever ends up going down after the trial, Mitsuru isn't around to see it. Instead, he simply heads back, glancing between lodge and cabin and eventually settling on cabin.

He's not feeling particularly social at the moment. But there's a few people in the camp who could probably get him talking...
]
killtheanimals: (that continue to struggle)
[Well. He'd asked, and gotten answers for it.

He's frowning when he locates Boa, probably unsurprising considering... everything. It's not like he expected a
pleasant answer, and there are worse things, probably, but.

No. He's not pleased at all with the hunters' plans for him.
]

That answers that.
killtheanimals: (And we all know what)
[He'd spent the majority of his time in the rec room, drawing away in his booklet. That booklet is with him now, tucked under an arm - staff in the other.

The voice is getting unbearable in his head, and he's been regularly grinding the heel of his palm against his temple as though that may make it go away. Needless to say, it's an exercise in futility - the voice remains, giving the same question over and over and over and over and--

The kitchen. He'll go to the kitchen, he decides. A quick snack and then bed. Though at this point, he wonders if he'll be able to sleep with his thoughts a jumble in his head, that question spinning around and around over all other thoughts...
]
killtheanimals: (Default)
[The investigation occurs and ends. The campers are left to make sense of what they learned. It's at this time that Mitsuru strides off on his own, staff ever in hand.

He glances over when approached, however; alert.
]

--Did you want something?
killtheanimals: (These shaking hands)
[It's Wednesday evening and the effects of illness are coming into a full swing. He can't fully quell the feeling of nausea, and throughout the day he's only been able to manage light foods and water.

Their situation is getting dire; after all they've been through so far, he doesn't doubt that voice one bit when it claims they must either kill or die. But they've already been warned, by others who were in a similar situation no less, of what the consequences could be--

He walks the grounds with a frown settled on his face, one hand carrying his staff, one lightly touching his head. The headache, too, seems to be here to stay. This isn't good. He doesn't have
time...

It's by luck that he sees a head of bright hair, and it's also by luck that he happens to guess correctly:
]

You're... Kurosaki?
killtheanimals: (Default)
[It's Thursday night.

Everyone's sick. No one but maybe Chloe is having fun. All that's left is to see what happens first - the death of them all, or the death of one.

But for Cabin 2 at least, all remain here.
]
